Volume One, Chapter 100: The Grand Finale
Yu Mo watched his retreating figure, her heart heavy with worry. She sincerely hoped that Lin Xing wouldn’t do anything reckless again.
The boat soon docked, and Director Zhang Zheng was the first to greet Yu Mo and Mu Shaozhou. Wiping the sweat from his brow with a handkerchief, he said, “It’s such a relief you’re both safe. The show has been suspended. How are you feeling? If you need rest, I’ll arrange a room for you.”
“Thank you,” Mu Shaozhou replied with a slight nod, following Yu Mo to the hotel arranged by the director.
Zhang Zheng, ever considerate, booked a room for the two of them, and the enormous bed inside was particularly eye-catching.
After showering and changing into her pajamas, Yu Mo stretched luxuriously on the bed, and the moment her head touched the pillow, she fell asleep.
Mu Shaozhou showered as well, wrapping a towel around his waist. Walking to the bedside, he gazed at the sleeping woman and gently brushed her cheek with his broad hand, a look of utter fondness on his face.
After three days on the island, it was time for her to rest properly.
Yu Mo awoke again at six the following morning. Stepping out of the room, she quickly spotted Chu Xirui and Su Beican.
Chu Xirui ran over excitedly, embracing her in a big hug. “Mo Mo, I’m so glad you’re safe! I worried myself sick these past three days—couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, I’ve lost nearly five pounds! You need to help me eat it all back. And guess what? Ah Can and I took first place in the show! We’re heading to F Country soon.”
Yu Mo’s lips curved in a bright smile. “Congratulations.”
Chu Xirui grabbed her hand, chattering about everything that had happened over the three days. “Tang Xinyan left quietly after learning you and Mu Shaozhou were safe. She’s gone back to the capital, and I think she’s truly heartbroken.
But what about you and Mu Shaozhou? Did anything special happen between you these past three days? Tell me all about it.”
A smile lit Yu Mo’s vibrant eyes as she briefly recounted their experience on the island.
“Since the show is over, I’ll be attending Han Yue and Zhuang Zhizhi’s wedding in a few days. Why don’t you and Su Beican join us for the wedding before heading to F Country?”
“No, no, the tickets for F Country are already booked. Changing plans would be such a hassle. Besides, Su Beican promised to tell me who the girl he likes is once we reach Paris—I’m dying of curiosity.”
Yu Mo smiled knowingly at the naive Chu Xirui. “Then hurry up and go. When you hear the name of the girl he likes, you’ll be shocked.”
“Huh? Wait, do I know her?” Chu Xirui’s eyes widened.
Yu Mo only smiled and said nothing, letting her ponder it herself.
Han Yue and Zhuang Zhizhi’s wedding soon arrived. At the ceremony, Han Yue, dressed in a pure white gown, gently held Yu Mo’s hand.
“Mo Mo, when are you and Mu Shaozhou registering your marriage?”
Yu Mo was startled. “Master, you’ve accepted him?”
Her master had always been strongly opposed to Mu Shaozhou, naturally because of Yang Duo. Could it be that she also knew Lin Xing’s father was actually Mu Boyu?
Han Yue nodded, a relieved smile on her lips, her tone tinged with apology. “Ah Zhi told me everything. It turns out Duo Duo liked Mu Boyu all along—I’ve misunderstood Mu Qiming for so many years. Please convey my apologies to him for me.”
“Of course,” Yu Mo replied, her gaze flickering to where Lin Xing sat below the stage. His expression was much clearer now, the rebellious edge had faded, replaced by a more mature, roguish charm.
Beside him sat Mu Boyu; it seemed the two had already spoken. Lin Xing remained indifferent toward Mu Boyu, likely still unable to forgive him, but the hatred in his eyes was nearly gone, replaced by a faint gleam in their clarity.
Yu Mo felt genuinely happy for Lin Xing.
After the wedding, urged by Han Yue and her mother’s persistent matchmaking, Yu Mo and Mu Shaozhou visited the civil affairs bureau on Monday morning.
When they emerged, their hands held a small red booklet.
Yu Mo raised her eyes to the marriage certificate. The man in the red-background photo had deep-set eyes and a slight smile that betrayed his good mood.
Beside him, Yu Mo’s gaze was bright, her fair face adorned with a blissful smile.
She could spend her life with this man.
Mu Shaozhou gripped her hand tightly as they got into the parked Rolls-Royce Phantom.
The car sped off, sunlight streaming through the window, bathing Yu Mo’s face in a warm glow that mirrored her mood—so happy it threatened to overflow.
“This afternoon we’ll start planning the wedding. I’ll let you decide on some details. For now, take a break, enjoy some time off,” Mu Shaozhou said gently, his eyes soft as he glanced at her in the passenger seat, his voice tender and affectionate as he called out softly,
“Wife.”
That single word fulfilled his long-held wish.
Seventeen years—he had finally married the woman of his heart.
The car stopped at Mu Shaozhou’s villa, and Yu Mo followed him into his room.
The décor was similar to the apartment of that handsome young man—pale gray tones reflecting his aloof and distant nature.
Only Yu Mo knew the side of him reserved solely for her—the doting gentleness he showed no one else.
She tilted her face up, wrapped her arms around his neck, and pressed her lips to his, planting a gentle kiss.
In a flash, she found herself lying on the bed, his familiar scent enveloping her.
She murmured a warning, but as always, she was powerless to resist his allure.
A night of passion ensued.
At dawn, Yu Mo slowly awoke in his warm, familiar embrace, Mu Shaozhou’s solid, reliable chest at her back.
She turned, dropped a kiss on his handsome face, and whispered,
“Good morning, Mr. Mu.”
Mu Shaozhou’s long lashes lifted, revealing deep, loving eyes.
His morning voice was husky and languid, seductive as a sated beast.
“Good morning, Mrs. Mu.”
His cool, pale fingers pressed the curtain remote, and as the drapes slowly slid open, morning light spilled across Yu Mo’s face. She squinted until she adjusted to the brightness.
Glancing at Mu Shaozhou, she saw a dozen marks on his neck and chest—vivid reminders of last night.
Yu Mo’s cheeks flushed, and she closed her eyes, lest she be tempted to kiss him again.
She was truly bewitched by Mu Shaozhou.
His gaze flickered, his Adam’s apple rolling, and in the next moment, he rolled on top of her, his long, elegant fingers pressing the curtain remote to close the drapes again.
His deep, alluring voice sounded in Yu Mo’s ear.
“The weather is wonderful today—let’s review last night’s lesson.”
