Volume One, Chapter 74: If you wish to pursue Yu Mo, please get in line.
"Fei, which country are you in lately? Do me a favor and go to Country F," Yu Mo said bluntly.
Doctor Fei was a friend she met abroad. Before she got to know Fu Yanting, she had spent several years overseas. Fei was someone she befriended during that time—a loyal and righteous foreign friend.
On the other end, Doctor Fei yawned, his voice thick with sleep, but not at all annoyed at being disturbed. Instead, he sounded quite delighted.
"Vivienne, darling, you only call me when you need something. If I had no value, would you abandon me in some cold, lonely corner, hmm?"
His tone was teasing, yet carried a hint of genuine petulance, as if pleading his own case.
Yu Mo laughed, "How could you ever be left in a corner? You're the top surgeon in Country D. Together, with my expertise in both Eastern and Western medicine, we make the strongest team in the world."
He chuckled.
"Fei, when you get to Country F, keep an eye out for someone named Yu Hongxuan. I'll send you his information shortly."
"OK," he replied.
Yu Mo hung up and went back to her mentor's home with Lin Xing, Douzi, and Hu Gua.
For the past two years, Hu Gua had been taking care of their mentor, while Douzi had opened a braised meat shop.
The trip to the capital had delayed matters at the pharmaceutical factory, so Yu Mo explained everything to Douzi and Hu Gua before preparing to head to the Fu Pharmaceutical Factory.
Lin Xing had already arranged for a car. He caught up to Yu Mo, blocking her path with a mischievous smile.
"Mo Mo, I'll drive you. Where are you headed?"
Yu Mo walked around him directly. "Are you going to the factory too?"
"Of course, that's exactly where I'm headed. We'll go together," Lin Xing said, tossing the car keys into the air and catching them deftly.
The silver-gray Porsche 911's headlights flashed several times. Lin Xing opened the car door for Yu Mo with a gentlemanly gesture.
Yu Mo got in, and Lin Xing thoughtfully fastened her seatbelt.
She looked at the man before her. His expression was calm, as if he were doing something perfectly ordinary.
Suddenly, she found this behavior familiar—was this how she acted when she was with Fu Yanting?
So this is what it feels like to love someone. The memory of her humble six years weighed on her, and Yu Mo felt a twinge of melancholy.
Lin Xing noticed her mood, and raised his hand to hold hers, but Yu Mo avoided his touch.
He laughed wickedly, glanced at the rearview mirror through his long lashes, and spoke softly.
"It's not that I'm deliberately sticking to you, but you must have noticed the little tail following behind us, right?"
Yu Mo looked at the rearview mirror too. She had noticed, but hadn't expected Lin Xing to be so observant.
She realized she had underestimated him before.
"Yes, so what are you planning to do?" she asked.
Those people, whoever they were, were certainly not friendly.
Lin Xing took a cigarette and held it between his lips, but suddenly remembered something, glanced at Yu Mo, and silently put the cigarette back in its case, starting the car.
He skillfully turned the steering wheel, speaking as he drove.
"Leave it to me. You just need to be a quiet and beautiful lady."
Fu Pharmaceutical Factory.
Yu Mo and Lin Xing entered the factory together. The staff, seeing them arrive side by side, were visibly surprised, especially Manager Yao.
What… President Yu and President Lin together?
Seeing how close they were, it seemed plausible.
It was shocking news, and it quickly reached Fu Yanting.
That afternoon, Yu Mo and Lin Xing were in the office. She was studying a laboratory report in her hands.
Suddenly, the office door slammed open. Fu Yanting burst in.
He was out of breath and hurried, and seeing Lin Xing and Yu Mo, he strode straight to Yu Mo, pointing at her and saying accusingly,
"Yu Mo, you fickle woman! You've only been in the capital for a few days, and already you've swapped two men. Shameless! And to think I've been waiting for you to come back to me."
He spoke angrily, like a wronged husband, with a hint of grievance.
Yu Mo had no idea what he was talking about. She set down the lab report and lifted her eyes to look at Fu Yanting.
His complexion was still poor; it was clear he hadn't improved during this period.
"Fu Yanting, I don't understand what you're saying. This is my office. Please leave," Yu Mo said, pointing to the door, her tone indifferent and emotionless.
Lin Xing sat on the sofa, legs crossed, arms spread comfortably, looking completely at ease.
Hearing Fu Yanting's words, his narrow, alluring eyes narrowed slightly, a trace of mocking amusement flickering within.
His thin lips curled lazily, his voice deep and unhurried.
"Young Master Fu, judging by your words, you were abandoned by Mo Mo? Do you really think that waiting in place means someone should turn back for you? How confident are you that Mo Mo would return for you? With so many good men in the world, where do you rank?"
He uncrossed his legs with a hint of grievance and smiled devilishly.
"I'm still in line. You'd better see the situation clearly."
"Lin Xing, haven't you seen the photos? Yu Mo and that eldest son of the Qi family," Fu Yanting said, pulling out his phone to show Lin Xing.
Yu Mo frowned.
Lin Xing, however, remained calm. He had seen those photos of Yu Mo, of course.
But he didn't believe Yu Mo was that kind of person; she and Qi Yancheng were surely just friends.
Moreover, Lin Xing knew exactly why Yu Mo had gone to the Qi family in the capital this time.
But being misunderstood by others made him angry on Yu Mo's behalf.
His thick eyebrows furrowed over dark, displeased eyes, his voice colder.
"Young Master Fu, if you can construct so much drama from a single ordinary photo, you really should be a scriptwriter."
Yu Mo had no patience for their bickering. She stood up, picked up her bag, and prepared to leave.
Lin Xing rose from the sofa to follow her.
Fu Yanting also hurried after Yu Mo.
Yu Mo had Lin Xing drive her back to her apartment, and then she drove herself to the Yu family to see her mother and grandfather.
This time, she noticed that those tailing her were gone, guessing Lin Xing had dealt with them.
She hadn't expected him to act so swiftly.
Fu Yanting shamelessly tagged along to the Yu family.
They entered the Yu family home one after the other. Old Master Yu was tending his flowers, and when he saw Fu Yanting, he waved at him cheerfully.
"Yanting, what brings you here today?"
"I…" Fu Yanting began, but was interrupted by Yu Mo.
"Grandpa, he's here to have me diagnose his problems. He has issues," Yu Mo said.
Old Master Yu smiled, glanced at Fu Yanting, then turned away.
Fu Yanting could only smile awkwardly and follow Yu Mo inside.
Once inside, he saw that a narrow bed had been covered with a disposable white sheet.
Yu Mo took down a long box from the top of a wooden cabinet, blew off the dust, and took out several python needles of varying thickness, arranging them on the table. She took out alcohol for sterilization.
Fu Yanting had never seen anything like these—they looked almost like fencing swords.
He blurted out his confusion.
"Mo Mo, what are these for?"
He couldn't imagine that traditional Chinese medicine would use such tools, along with the iron wires beside them.
Yu Mo wiped the python needles, testing their sharpness, then glanced at Fu Yanting.
"You wanted me to treat you, didn't you? I happen to have time today, so since you're here, I'll give you a treatment."
She pointed to the tip of the python needle, its sharp point flashing a silver glimmer.
"See? This goes in at the Baihui point and comes out at the Yongquan point."
