Chapter Ninety-Five: Awakening
Batu was naturally willing to leave with them. This would delight everyone, for in the days ahead, if they encountered any trouble, they would at least have one another to rely on. No one slept that night, not because they had no desire for sleep, but because it felt as though they had gained another person on the road, someone like a lifeline.
“My brother must be so happy he can’t sleep either. This is the first time I’ve ever traveled with people who know us. I’ve never felt anything like it before. But now I suddenly miss my family too, and I don’t know how my father is doing. They wouldn’t be scheming to bully him, would they? If that is the case, I certainly won’t forgive them.”
Thinking of this, Zhao Ling’er could not help but grow a little angry.
By now, after so many years of handling state affairs, the Grand Marshal of All Living Things had remained upright and incorruptible, without the slightest mistake, carrying out every duty with meticulous care. He had long since earned immense prestige, and even the harshest commoners and the great clans had to admire that his work was never marked by favoritism or selfishness.
“Huo Lingfeng? Are you a bastard?” Could Zhuang Qingqing never get the upper hand before Huo Lingfeng even once?
“Dad, Uncle Lu, Aunt Lu.” Ignoring Lu Shuangshuang at the door, Huo Lingfeng directly pulled Zhuang Qingqing inside.
In his eyes, blossoms of golden flame flared up again, one after another, bursting from his body and transforming into streams of sword energy that spread across the entire sky. Their sharp points aimed straight at Li Daoling, instantly locking onto his vital aura and leaving him with nowhere to flee.
Chen Hao gave a light leap and came to the side of the speaker, seized the other man by the collar, and pressed him with a flurry of questions.
Yang Xue held the phone as it kept buzzing. What did Ji Chenfeng mean? Did he think she was lying to him?
Hmm? The others of the Dark Emperor were somewhat puzzled. What did the world-opening of the Divine Land have to do with Lin Zheng?
Of course, unless absolutely necessary, Yang Xue would not interfere. Wang Bing and the others needed tempering. Besides, if Yang Xue stepped in, she would inevitably have to call upon higher authorities at the same level; solving one problem only to leave another was not something she was willing to do.
By the city gate, Chen Qing’s face was grim as stone. The Ice Men’s leader, Tian Han, was actually dead, and this enraged him. He cast a cold glance at Rong’er and sent a soul lash flying at her.
Dawn was stirring up chaos throughout the Land of a Hundred Cities. The first to be unable to endure it was Seize, which had only just founded its nation and had been focused on development. Dawn’s disruptions had thrown Seize’s plans into disarray, and what made Seize gnash its teeth most was that Dawn had not sold it a single piece of equipment, a single warhorse, or a single pill.
At the time, Zhao Dan was right in front of me. I couldn’t think of Mu Meiqing at all. Even if I had, with Zhao Dan standing before me, I simply could not resist her allure. So I said, “The one I truly like is you, Zhao Dan. Will you be with me?”
One night, lying in bed, he gazed quietly through the house, which was already somewhat dilapidated, up at the stars in the sky. The stars in the desert were beautiful, for there were very few clouds here, and almost every day the night sky was just as brilliant.
A wild thought instantly took root in his mind: to force a kiss on the girl with the scarf. And once that thought arose in his alcohol-muddled brain, it seemed to whisper that he absolutely could do it.
Suddenly, the pressure of a mighty being descended upon that region. It was the coercion of a sixth-tier beast, equivalent to a human emperor-level expert. The arrival of that imperial pressure was enough to make the beast forest tremble.
Fiers stood in the corridor making a phone call, though he also knew very well that for Mossad to dare abduct someone like this, it would be impossible without orders from above.
“Thank you.” Yet Ling Xiao did not give Zhang Xue’er much time to observe him; he took her hand and turned to leave.
Silently, but Hao Nan could already feel the aura of the Human Emperor shifting, weakening considerably. If this fellow were not given something hard enough to teach him a lesson, he would never understand how important he was.
