Chapter 22: Thunder Fist
Chapter 22: Thunder Punch
Kays gazed at the imposing Electric Beast dominating the arena, unable to suppress a sigh of admiration in his heart.
“Impressive!”
As a trainer who specialized in fighting-type creatures, Kays had little confidence in how to train this exceptionally gifted Woolly Lamb. That was why he had rented a high-level Electric Beast from the headquarters’ reserve, hoping it would help him put Lu Yun through special training.
Though the cost—two thousand merit points—had pained him a little, he felt no regret. After all, investing those points in Lu Yun was tantamount to investing in himself.
...
A powerful magnetic field enveloped the arena, strange currents rippling through the air. Lu Yun felt as if the electricity stored in his wool had suddenly slipped beyond his control, spilling outward from his body. He hurried to compose himself, suppressing and commanding the wild energy within, but the Electric Beast ahead, calm and unperturbed, sent a chill through his heart.
“To think that merely the natural electric magnetic field of its body could almost make me lose control… What would it be like if it unleashed its full magnetic force and current?”
A sense of yearning rose within him. Lu Yun suddenly recalled the description of the Electric Beast from the game in his previous life: “A single Electric Beast can provide all the electricity needed for a metropolis’s buildings for an entire year!”
He had once scoffed at such claims, dismissing them as official exaggeration, but now he found himself starting to believe.
Boom! Boom!
The Electric Beast strode heavily toward Lu Yun, each step deliberate. The magnetic voltage swirling through the arena seemed to intensify as the distance between them shrank.
Sweat beaded on Lu Yun’s brow, his heart pounding wildly in his chest. The current within him grew ever more frenzied and difficult to contain.
Sparks crackled and danced across Lu Yun’s wool.
“Is this supposed to be a show of force?”
He couldn’t afford to think too much about it now—he was barely holding his own power in check.
Boom! Boom!
Two more steps and the Electric Beast was even closer. The wild current now overflowed around Lu Yun’s body, coursing over his surface like a herd of stampeding wild horses.
Just as he was about to lose all control, the powerful magnetic field abruptly vanished, as though the arena had reverted to how it was at the very start. The current subsided, but Lu Yun felt far from well—the sudden shift left him reeling, as if he had been bungee-jumping mid-scream, only to find himself lying in his bedroom in the next instant. The abrupt transition from extreme excitement to utter stillness sent a wave of nausea through him, and he gagged dryly.
The Electric Beast eyed Lu Yun, who was now ten paces away, and nodded in satisfaction.
“This Woolly Lamb has some potential, after all.”
Having tested the abilities of its student, the Electric Beast was ready to begin formal electric-type training.
First, the familiar voltage field descended once more, forcing Lu Yun to divide his attention between the training and suppressing his own internal current—an exercise that would greatly improve his command of electric powers.
Next, the Electric Beast gestured for Lu Yun to watch closely. It raised its right fist toward the thick steel plate the staff had set up in the middle of the white arena.
Lu Yun watched in amazement as a titanic voltage radiated from the Electric Beast, making him tremble.
Sparks crackled and blinding light flared as terrifying currents gathered around the beast’s fist, writhing like serpents. The compressed energy whined—a miniature sun blazing on the Electric Beast’s hand.
“So this is…”
Lu Yun’s eyes shone with growing excitement.
The Electric Beast planted its thick legs firmly, drawing back its right arm. The dense yellow fur barely concealed the bulging muscles beneath. With a fist wreathed in explosive electricity, it aimed at the steel plate.
With a deafening boom, the Electric Beast hurled its fist forward. The force, crackling with endless current, tore through the air. Like a hot knife through butter, the blue-white lightning punch pierced the steel plate in an instant. A surge of electricity exploded outward with a thunderous roar, shattering the plate into fragments.
Shards of metal clattered and skidded across the arena.
Lu Yun could not help but click his tongue at the display of such raw power.
The Electric Beast shook its right hand, flinging away the molten steel residue, then looked over
