Chapter 4: Redemption
Chapter 4: Redemption
Within the white space, a translucent figure floated in midair, one hand occasionally tapping and swiping before him.
Lu Yun, his heart pounding with excitement, pressed the “Redeem” button.
Whoosh!
On Lu Yun’s original attribute interface, a small window popped up.
It was still the same crudely designed blue screen, a few rows of black text arranged upon it, maintaining that familiar minimalist style.

[Notice]: The shop refreshes with each cycle
———
Lu Yun studied the array of goods.
“The Individual Value Enhancer can improve my aptitude in the next life—worth considering.”
“As for Attribute Selection, I remember the starter pack already gave me one, but I could buy another for the next cycle, since who knows if it’ll appear again in the refreshed shop.”
“The Move Tutors are also useful. If I reincarnate as a Pokémon capable of using them, I’ll gain some fighting strength early on.”
“Azure Feather? Ah… how tempting.”
Lu Yun wanted to redeem them all, but after checking his points, he could only painfully abandon most options.
He felt a pang of regret for the Azure Feather, convinced such a rare item would hardly appear again.
If he missed it now, he might never have another chance—but his points were simply too limited.
“So torn… which should I choose?”
After some deliberation, Lu Yun, weighing practical benefits, finally decided to spend 200 points to redeem the Individual Value Enhancer (Small) for improved aptitude and the Move Tutor: Hidden Power for its wide applicability.
Exiting the redemption interface, Lu Yun resolved to begin his next cycle,
determined in his heart to be even more cautious than before, focusing solely on development and amassing as many points as possible.
After all, it was only because the system gifted him a starter pack that he had any capital to redeem with.
Otherwise, with the pitiful 7 points earned in his previous life, he could only stare longingly at these treasures.
Finding the reincarnation button, Lu Yun pressed it gently.
Beep!
“Detected usable item [Attribute Selection (Basic)]. Would you like to use it?”
“Use it!” Lu Yun answered firmly.
Whoosh!
A small interface abruptly appeared before his eyes, displaying three icons.
The leftmost icon was a vibrant green leaf with white veins, swaying gently as if in the wind, radiating abundant vitality at a glance.
The center icon was a delicately spinning snowflake, miniature and exquisite, exuding a faint chill—even in his soul state, Lu Yun shivered involuntarily from the sudden cold.
The rightmost icon was a flashing yellow lightning bolt, sparks crackling at its side. Lu Yun couldn’t help but recall the tragic outcome of his previous life, and his mouth twisted in a wry smile.
Each icon had its own appeal—Lu Yun mused that paid items in the system certainly came with dynamic effects.
“The first is Grass type, the second must be Ice type, and the last is Electric type.”
Lu Yun furrowed his brow, for his ideal choices were actually Dragon or Ghost.
Dragon types generally had high base stats and good aptitude; even as weak hatchlings, they were often protected by adult kin and given ample resources for development. Once the long growth period was survived and one became an adult Dragon, Lu Yun would ascend to the top of the Pokémon world’s food chain.
Ghost-type Pokémon, with their mysterious traits and peculiar abilities, naturally exerted a strong suppressive effect on most others.
Moreover, Ghost-types often enjoyed extremely long lifespans—unless struck by misfortune, they could linger in darkness for ages,
which would grant Lu Yun plenty of opportunities to farm points.
“Hmm… but these three aren’t bad either.”
“Grass-types are highly adaptable; many can survive by absorbing sunlight. Choosing them would be easier, but since there are many Grass Pokémon, I might randomly end up with one with low base stats, poor aptitude, and little growth potential.”
“Ice-types have wide offensive coverage and can counter Dragon-types, but they have many weaknesses and few resistances, so I can’t choose them with confidence.”
“The last, Electric-type… high damage, stylish moves, and control. It’s settled!”
Lu Yun would never admit that the decisive choice was influenced by the electric spider of his previous life…
In the void, Lu Yun’s finger tapped lightly on “Lightning”.
Zzz!
The yellow lightning icon trembled violently, releasing several tiny arcs.
“Neat little thing,” Lu Yun remarked with a smile.
Buzz!
A piercing roar suddenly erupted beside his ears. As a blinding light flashed before his eyes, a massive black vortex materialized abruptly.
The misty whirlpool spun slowly, occasionally shedding dark red energy particles that drifted through the air—mysterious and elegant.
Just a glance gave Lu Yun the sensation of being sucked in entirely.
Without delay, he reached out and touched the vortex with his right hand.
The previously tranquil black mist suddenly expanded, enveloping his entire body,
then spun madly, shrinking at a rapid pace, vanishing from the white space in an instant.
Lu Yun saw nothing but darkness, and promptly lost consciousness.
