Chapter 95: Flaming Fist
Chapter 95: Flame Fist
After evolving into an Electrodon, Lu Yun's mastery over magnetic fields had soared to another level entirely. He noticed that even the system acknowledged his prowess, officially recognizing it as the skill "Magnetic Field Manipulation."
Hidden fluctuations rippled through the air, transforming into invisible high pressure that enveloped the entire arena. The Scissor Mantis felt as though it were submerged in the depths of the ocean, its body wrapped tightly by the immense force. The metallic crimson skin creaked under the strain. Its once swift movements slowed drastically under the magnetic field's oppression.
"Got you!"
A brilliant gleam flashed in Lu Yun's pitch-black eyes. His slender yellow tail swept behind him.
Buzz—
The electromagnetic field that had shrouded the arena contracted suddenly towards the Scissor Mantis's position. It was as if an invisible giant hand materialized in the air, snatching the small mantis into its palm like an insect.
With force, the hand squeezed tighter.
A harsh metallic screech echoed across the field, and the Scissor Mantis let out a cry of pain.
The assault did not stop. Seeing the mantis struggle helplessly within the bind, Lu Yun decided to finish the battle swiftly.
Zzz—
Brilliant golden currents erupted from every part of his body, dazzling electric arcs flashing across the arena. The sound of electricity, like thousands of birds chirping at once, filled the air. An astonishing amount of energy coalesced around Lu Yun.
He locked onto the rigid form of the Scissor Mantis from afar, spreading his arms wide and pushing against the encircling golden currents.
"Discharge!"
Countless electric sparks exploded, and streams of golden light shot out abruptly. In a flash, the torrent of electricity crossed space and struck before the Scissor Mantis.
The mantis trembled, agony from the crushing force spreading through its body. The scent of death hovered like a demon, chilling the air around its ears. Its pupils contracted sharply, its expression frozen with dread.
In this moment of crisis, the Scissor Mantis's entire body glowed a deep red, surging with unexpected power from within. The electromagnetic field that had wrapped it tightly was shaken and loosened, if only slightly.
And in that brief instant, the mantis mustered all its strength and conjured a translucent, oval shield around itself.
"Protect!"
Crack—
As soon as the shield formed, it shattered like a fragile eggshell under the influx of electromagnetic pressure and dazzling golden beams from outside. Yet, in that fleeting moment, the Scissor Mantis found a glimmer of hope in its dire predicament.
"Shadow Clone!"
A dark gray shadow, wavering between reality and illusion, floated in space, slipping through the layer between worlds and breaking free from the blockade of radiant beams and the vast magnetic field.
A sharp light flashed in the mantis’s orange-yellow eyes. The air blurred, and the energy of normal types was pushed to its limits.
In the next second, the crimson form of the Scissor Mantis escaped from Lu Yun’s bind, leaving behind only a phantom gray shadow.
The magnetic field surged, the current swept through, obliterating the mantis’s counterfeit form.
A look of lingering fear flashed in its eyes, immediately followed by a surge of fierce battle spirit like blazing fire.
The white wings on its back vibrated rapidly, expelling the heat generated by its intense actions. Dense white steam billowed upward, accompanied by faint sizzling sounds.
"Agility!"
A layer of vivid pink light suddenly enveloped the mantis's crimson metallic shell. Its already formidable speed increased even more.
A piercing screech thundered through the arena, sonic booms erupting. Yet, faster than any noise was the vivid red of the mantis itself.
Its enormous, pincer-like claws sliced through the air, condensing crescent-shaped blades from the wind.
"Air Slash!"
Whistling, the blade formed from compressed air traced a graceful arc, flying towards Lu Yun.
Unperturbed, Lu Yun remained relaxed. Though the mantis was swift, under the magnetic field that covered the arena like a sixth sense, every move it made was laid bare before him.
Brilliant arcs of electricity danced in his palm. With a gentle wave, dense golden currents surged forth, clashing violently with the incoming Air Slash.
The intricate currents shredded the blade, reducing it to invisible fragments that slowly dissipated in the air.
As Lu Yun was momentarily distracted, the mantis’s spectral form sped towards him at astonishing velocity.
Time seemed to pause.
On the mantis’s arm, a layer of silvery, radiant metal light appeared.
"Bullet Punch," ready to strike!
A savage intent flared in its orange-yellow eyes.
Yet, unexpectedly, the mantis found the Electrodon before it calm and collected, showing not the slightest sign of panic.
Confused, it saw Lu Yun's composed face break into a dazzling smile—warm, bright, teeth like pearls.
"Why does everyone assume I’m a fragile long-range attacker?"
Scarlet sparks erupted in the air, the scorching aura threatening to melt the mantis’s body.
Surrounded by wild flames, vigorous orange-red fire blazed fiercely on Lu Yun’s fist.
"Flame Fist!"
In the mantis’s absurd, ghost-struck gaze, the two fists collided.
Boom—
A fiery meteor and a silvery bullet crashed together, generating a shocking explosion that rippled through the air like waves.
Lu Yun stood firm, rooted to the spot like a nail.
But the mantis was hurled backwards by the powerful impact from Lu Yun’s fist.
Its heavy metallic feet scraped violently against the ground, sparks flying, shrill noise ringing.
Barely able to stop, the Scissor Mantis exhaled a breath of scorching air.
Clad in its metallic shell, after continuous fierce combat, its body was under heavy strain.
On its massive pincer-like right fist, the extreme heat of Flame Fist left a large patch of charred black. The edges glowed faintly with molten red.
Ignoring the pain, the mantis gritted its teeth and prepared to charge again.
Suddenly, a cold, unquestionable command rang out from behind.
"Enough! Stop!"
"You're no match for him now."
The Scissor Mantis halted abruptly, eyes flashing with unwillingness. It stamped its feet but dared not disobey its trainer, and could only remain quietly in place.
It seemed that the hope of defeating the Electrodon before it through sheer force was lost.
Resigned, the mantis let out a long breath and closed its eyes.
In an instant, it fell into meditation amid the intense battle.
Behind it, the red-gray cat’s eye gem on Noren’s wrist suddenly shone brightly.
