Void Summoner (Upper-tier Hero): A powerful mage who commands the power of the void.
Comet Knight (Mid-tier Hero): A formidable melee class wielding the power of the stars.
Astral Mage (Mid-tier Hero): A mage class that harnesses the power of the stars.

After reviewing a dozen or so hero classes, Chu Cheng had a general understanding and had already identified several potential targets. He then accessed the internal campus network of the Starlight Tower, connecting to the library to examine more detailed information about these classes. The materials from the senior students only contained the official standard descriptions of the hero classes; the actual strength of each class depended largely on the experiences and insights of predecessors who had already embarked on these careers.

Since the inception of these hero classes, countless practitioners have emerged. Many predecessors, upon graduation or in their later years, enjoyed compiling their career experiences into books, which served as the best way to understand a profession. Even the rare legendary Void Destroyer, passed down for over ten thousand years, has produced a considerable number of successors.

With nothing pressing at the moment and no urgency in choosing a mentor, Chu Cheng decided to stay in the temporary dormitory for the next few days, poring over the materials. He had to be cautious; barring unforeseen circumstances, this choice would be lifelong. It was highly unlikely he would have the opportunity to reset his skills and switch professions. Not that it was impossible to change, but once the hero career path was set, the investment was immense. Resetting later would waste too many precious resources. Unless he encountered a legendary or higher-tier profession perfectly suited to him, there was no reason to switch.

“Ding-dong!”

The crisp chime of the doorbell interrupted Chu Cheng’s thoughts. He looked up in puzzlement, pausing for two seconds before turning toward the door.

“Who could that be?”

Curious, he approached the door and checked the surveillance outside. Standing there were a middle-aged man and a beautiful young woman. He didn’t open the door immediately but asked:

“Who are you looking for?”

The man replied promptly:

“Are you Chu Cheng? We’re students under Mentor Yu Shuang and would like to talk to you about mentorship.”

Chu Cheng immediately understood their intent and opened the door, inviting them inside.

“I’m Yu Zhisheng,” the man introduced himself.
“I’m Qiao Yun!” the woman added.
“Senior Yu, Senior Qiao, please have a seat,” Chu Cheng said politely.

On the balcony, the three sat down. Chu Cheng got straight to the point:

“Are you here representing Mentor Yu Shuang to recruit me?”

Yu Zhisheng nodded:

“You guessed right, junior. That’s exactly why we’re here.”

The beautiful senior Qiao Yun quickly added:

“Mentor Yu Shuang is one of the newly minted legendary mentors from the Void Tower faction. Young and vigorous, newly promoted to legendary status, she has fewer distractions and is wholeheartedly devoted to training her disciples. Chu Cheng, with your perfect score on the entrance exam, you’ve been specially recruited. Joining under Mentor Yu Shuang means you will be prioritized for development.”

After hearing her, Chu Cheng was straightforward:

“I need some time to think. I was just reviewing the school’s hero legacies and haven’t had a chance to look over the mentors’ profiles yet. Let me finish that first.”

They both nodded:

“Of course.”

The lovely senior smiled sweetly:

“Let’s exchange contact information. You can reach out to me anytime once you have made up your mind.”

“Alright.”

After seeing them off, Chu Cheng exhaled lightly, closed the materials in his hands, and flipped to another page about the mentors’ profiles.

It seemed that disciples from various factions personally came to recruit students. This was likely not the only visit of this kind; more would probably come. Chu Cheng wasn’t particularly impressed by this—such recruitment efforts didn’t mean much to him. Although being recruited by a mentor might come with some privileges, the difference wasn’t substantial. Ultimately, strength was what mattered most.

“Better pick a mentor first, so I don’t have a swarm of seniors knocking on my door.”

He spent two hours going through all the profiles of legendary and above mentors. He immediately ruled out all mentors above legendary rank. Those at the divine or demonic tiers still bore the title but had stopped taking disciples long ago. The few above legendary who still accepted students were mostly busy with their own ascensions; their new students were taught by assistants instead. While resources were ample, there was a significant difference between being personally taught by the mentor and being taught by an assistant.

Therefore, the best fit for him were the regular legendary mentors. Among them was Mentor Yu Shuang, the one whose students had just come to recruit him. According to the profile, she had been promoted from the extraordinary tier to legendary less than five years ago and devoted most of her energy to her students. Young, vigorous, and very responsible—on the surface, a solid choice.

But there were other young and responsible legendary mentors as well, some more experienced, some with richer resources.

And, importantly, Yu Shuang was a female mentor—her profile picture was stunningly beautiful. The only reason Chu Cheng hesitated was the slight inconvenience he felt in having a female mentor compared to a male one.

Before long, he had selected a legendary mentor named Yun Dingge, a middle-aged mentor from his shortlist, and sent in his application. Within two minutes, the reply came:

“Approved!”
“Stay in your dorm. Your senior will assist you with the formalities.”

“Understood.”

Closing the communication, Chu Cheng pursed his lips.

“This mentor seems quite aloof.”

But it didn’t matter much—competence and dedication were what counted.

Two minutes later, a new message arrived. Chu Cheng checked it immediately, but it wasn’t from the expected senior; it was from Fang Xi:

“Pack your things and get ready to leave. I’ll take you to Mentor Yun Dingge.”

He responded promptly:

“I’m ready to go anytime.”

“Knock knock knock!” came a knock at the door.

He quickly opened it to find Senior Fang Xi standing gracefully outside, a smile lighting her delicate face.

“Follow me,” she said.

They left, boarding a flying vehicle that soared toward the center of the floating city. They entered a mage tower and passed through a teleportation gate inside.

The space shifted, and stepping through the portal, Chu Cheng found himself in a grand hall. The walls and ceiling were adorned with exquisite bas-reliefs, with strands of magical light woven intricately into the carvings. Chu Cheng faintly sensed the immense power concealed within the reliefs.

Around the room stood numerous humanoid golems clad in gleaming silver armor. Their expressions were lifelike, and their armor finely crafted, giving them a striking appearance.

Chu Cheng instinctively scanned them, and a line of data appeared slowly:

“Astral Guardian Golem (Formidable): Level 50, HP ???”

Just in this hall alone, there were forty or fifty of these golems.

“So powerful!”

Following Fang Xi, they reached a reception-like area on one side of the hall. After a brief conversation with the receptionist, Fang Xi turned to him:

“Mentor has been notified. Let’s wait over there for a moment.”

Chu Cheng nodded and followed Fang Xi to a nearby temporary meeting area, where drinks were promptly brought to them.

Fang Xi seemed well acquainted with the staff and chatted casually with a pretty receptionist. Chu Cheng caught the faint mention of "Yuntai," though he couldn’t hear clearly.

Not daring to intrude, he withdrew his gaze and looked around curiously.
