Chapter Thirty-Two: Solo Slaying the Boss
The moment this accessory appeared, everyone’s breathing grew rapid. The previous auction items had been sold off quickly, and even the two ordinary blue-grade pieces from the other blue chests were swiftly passed over once they reached a certain price.
Now, every gaze was fixed intently on Wei Long Wang. He smiled slightly, set the accessory before everyone, and announced, “Blue accessory, starting price fifty silver, minimum bid increment one silver. I’ll start the bidding at one hundred silver.”
Chunlei Zhang grinned mischievously. “One hundred and twenty silver.”
Mingyue Cheng refused to fall behind. “One hundred and thirty silver.”
Qing Zhang joined in, “One hundred and fifty silver.”
Everyone turned toward Qing Zhang. He spread his hands. “I don’t need it myself, but I can resell it for a profit.”
“Fair point! I’ll bid one hundred and eighty silver.”
“One hundred and ninety.”
“I bid two hundred and thirty-four silver,” Chucheng called out a precise number, making it clear he was going all in.
Unfortunately, in the next instant, Wei Long Wang immediately outbid him with two hundred and fifty-one silver.
Chucheng shrugged helplessly, forced to look on as the others competed. There was nothing he could do—he simply didn’t have enough money.
The bidding continued, the price quickly soaring to three hundred silver. At this point, the pace slowed, and soon Qing Zhang withdrew from the competition. Shortly after, Mingyue Cheng also exited, leaving only Wei Long Wang and Chunlei Zhang in contention.
The two traded bids back and forth, grinding the price up to three hundred and eighty-two silver, at which point Wei Long Wang finally conceded with a resigned “Pass.”
Victorious, Chunlei Zhang burst out laughing and exuberantly equipped the accessory.
Next, Wei Long Wang auctioned off the last three magic stones at twenty silver each, totaling sixty silver. With the earlier items and the accessory, the total proceeds came to...
“Four hundred sixty-four silver in all, divided into six shares—seventy-eight silver and sixty-six copper each. Chucheng receives extra compensation and gets one hundred fifty-seven silver and thirty-two copper.” Wei Long Wang distributed the accounts and asked, “Any objections? If not, I’ll pay out now.”
Everyone shook their heads. “No problem.”
A few seconds later, the transaction was complete with Wei Long Wang, and one hundred fifty-seven silver was in hand.
“Boss runs really do make money fast,” Chucheng reflected. As long as your luck holds and something good drops, you can earn more in one run than in an entire year of slow grinding.
“Let’s go to Black Sand Island—there’s still another boss to deal with.”
After a short rest, the group of five set forth again. They returned to Seaside Town, rented a boat at the docks, and headed straight for Black Sand Island.
This island was located between Black Sail Island and Seaside Island. It wasn’t large, but it harbored a pirate stronghold manned by a Black Sail pirate boss and about two hundred Black Sail pirates.
Wei Long Wang and his group were well-practiced at clearing out these pirates. After landing, they intercepted the pirates along their routine patrol routes—taking out one squad at a time, no matter how many approached.
After a few squads fell, the pirate boss would lead a larger group to investigate, only to be ambushed and eliminated on the path.
Previously, their strategy was to assemble a twenty-person team and lay an ambush along the road. Now, there was no such need—Chucheng simply stood in the way and faced the pirates head-on.
Only the pirate boss and a few level-twenty pirates could break through his defenses; the rest were ordinary pirates, helpless against him.
After this group was dealt with, half the pirates on the island were either dead or incapacitated, and no more would emerge from the encampment.
That was the time to approach the stronghold and provoke them.
The stronghold was built on the shore, next to a harbor where several pirate ships were moored. The base had cannons, but they pointed out to sea; from the land side, there were none—only pirate flintlocks. Chucheng stood beneath the fortress wall, taunting them, but they could do nothing to stop him.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Flintlocks fired in rapid succession, but Chucheng remained unscathed, while a row of pirates toppled from the ramparts.
Moments later, another volley rang out—another wave of pirates fell.
Soon, the pirate boss appeared, seizing a long spear and hurling it down with force.
Chucheng rolled backward to dodge, then drew a flintlock and fired at the pirate boss, who, enraged, began to howl. Suddenly, the gate below creaked open and a horde of pirates charged out.
The pirate boss leaped down from the wall, brandishing a great saber.
Over the channel, Wei Long Wang’s voice came through: “Get ready.”
But Chucheng refused. “Don’t come out yet, let me test a tactic.”
He crouched, gathered strength, then leapt onto the wall like a bolt of lightning. The pirate boss, still processing his own jump down, was left dumbfounded.
Jumping down was easy; getting back up was another matter entirely.
The pirates atop the wall, who hadn’t yet left the fortress, rushed at him with raised blades.

…and so on. Ten damage notifications floated above the pirate boss’ head before he realized what was happening and charged for the gate.
But the entrance was jammed with pirates trying to return, forming a tangled mass that couldn’t be breached quickly.
Meanwhile, Chucheng was surrounded, blades hacking at him from all sides. He unleashed wave after wave of spatial blades in a flawless 360-degree sweep. The pirates directly around him were unharmed, but the spatial ripples cut relentlessly into the pirate boss, who was still struggling to squeeze back in, opening wound after wound.
“Damn, this tactic… is wild,” Zhang Chunlei and the others, hidden in ambush, were stunned.
“He doesn’t even need us—he can clear it solo.”
Descending was easy for the boss, but returning was not. By the time he forced his way back through the pirates at the gate and climbed to Chucheng’s section of the wall, he’d had to push through a mass of pirates, taking at least twenty to thirty seconds.
Even at an attack every two seconds, that was over a dozen rounds—each dealing three hundred true damage, unaffected by defense. Ten rounds meant three thousand damage, fifteen meant forty-five hundred.
The boss had only fifty-five hundred health in total; by the time he finally reached Chucheng, he had less than a thousand left.
At that point, he faced Chucheng’s carefully prepared burst.
Quickstep: speed increased by fifty percent, and while running, a fifty percent chance to dodge physical attacks.
Then a Stomp, stunning the surrounding pirates and slowing them by thirty percent, followed by a Mighty Blow, then a Frenzy Combo. One second later, Blade Storm was unleashed, cutting wildly—ordinary pirates fell en masse.
With space cleared, the pirate boss could finally fight back. He raised his saber, the blade flashing blue, and unleashed a sweeping arc of sapphire light that cut through the blade storm and carved a deep ravine into the stone wall ten meters away.

A huge damage number floated up, but with Blade Storm, Chucheng gained a basic super armor, negating the attack’s knockback effect and maintaining the skill.

And that strike marked the pirate boss’s swan song. Before he could chain any attacks, the relentless Blade Storm sliced away the last of his health.
“Notification: Black Sail Pirate Boss slain. Gained 1,145 kill experience.”
When the storm ended, Chucheng exhaled deeply and joyfully picked up the loot chest glowing blue with a hint of red from the corpse.
With the boss dead, the surrounding pirates’ morale collapsed—some madly charged, others turned to flee.
But Chucheng wouldn’t let them go—after all, they were all free experience.
With a wild shout, he dashed after them.
Outside the fortress gate, Wei Long Wang and the others had already received the notification of the pirate boss’s death. The four exchanged glances, somewhat embarrassed.
So much for the plan of teaming up for a boss run—if you can solo the big boss, what are we even here for?
