Chapter 152: Who Says Innovation Is Impossible?
The person who arrived was none other than Lin Chuan.
Nobody present had expected the chairman to appear in the conference room at this moment.
Yuan Ye was equally surprised. He had assumed Lin Chuan would go straight home and never imagined he would come to the television station first.
Despite their unusually close personal relationship, Yuan Ye maintained strict professional boundaries within the station, especially in front of outsiders, always preserving the proper etiquette between a superior and a subordinate.
"Chairman Lin, what brings you here?" Yuan Ye quickly stood up and offered his seat.
Lin Chuan did not stand on ceremony; he dropped right into the chair and said, "Nothing much, just dropped by to take a look. Everyone, don't stand on my account. Please continue; I'll just sit in and listen for a while."
Yuan Ye nodded and waved his hand at the others, prompting them to sit back down.
"What's this? A children's talent show proposal? Is our station getting into that sort of thing now?" Lin Chuan picked up the document in front of him, flipped through it casually, and smiled as he spoke.
In truth, Hu Zhipeng had already briefed him on the whole situation on the way here, so he was merely playing dumb.
Yuan Ye forced a smile and nodded. "That's right. Bemini Corporation has sponsored us with one hundred million US dollars, hoping we can produce a children's program featuring their brand. But... it's been over a week, and we still haven't been able to come up with a satisfactory proposal. It can't even get past my standards, let alone satisfy the sponsors."
One hundred million US dollars was no small sum. More importantly, this was only the initial investment. If the show performed well and the brand impact was substantial, they would inject even more capital in later stages.
With such a massive influx of funds, Quan城 Television would undergo a earth-shattering transformation—at the very least, they could finally upgrade their office premises.
Thus, the importance of this children's program went without saying.
As Lin Chuan listened, he nodded along, while the others didn't even dare to breathe heavily, terrified of offending the chairman. If that happened, a simple scolding wouldn't be the end of it; they might even lose their jobs.
With the Lunar New Year just around the corner, everyone was counting on their bonuses to buy festive goods.
"Are there any special restrictions for this program?" Lin Chuan turned his head and asked calmly.
"None. The sponsor's requirements are very simple: the show just needs to be novel enough and effectively promote their brand," Yuan Ye replied.
"In that case, it shouldn't be too difficult, right? Couldn't we just modify existing children's programs to make the highlights of the show stand out more?" Lin Chuan said casually.
As soon as these words fell, everyone let out helpless sighs.
They thought to themselves, *Mr. Chairman, you really are an outsider to this industry. If it were as simple as you make it sound, would we all be sitting here taking a beating? We would have come up with a flawless proposal long ago.*
*So what if you can sing well and even designed an unprecedented matchmaking show? That doesn't prove anything.*
*Right now, there are only a handful of decent domestic children's programs. Aside from talent shows and family collaboration shows, what else is there? Innovation—how are you supposed to innovate on that foundation?*
*Do you seriously expect such a talent show to bloom flowers out of nowhere?*
Everyone was silently complaining internally, but who dared to speak their thoughts aloud? Doing that would be no different from seeking death.
Yet Lin Chuan seemed to see right through their minds. He smiled slightly and said, "The innovation I'm talking about doesn't necessarily have to be within the talent show format itself. You are all planning professionals and industry elites. You should know better than I do that formats like talent shows no longer have much room for re-engineering."
"That's right, Chairman. The limitations of talent shows are just that broad. Wanting to innovate is extremely difficult."
"Chairman, you've voiced what's been in our hearts. This is already our limit."
"Children's talent shows have reached a bottleneck. Breaking through is practically impossible. Even if you invited immortals down from the heavens, they might not be able to pull it off..."
Everyone chimed in all at once, eagerly venting their grievances.
Yuan Ye glared at them, wanting to flare up, but Lin Chuan stopped him with a slight smile. "Since talent shows have reached a bottleneck, why must we rack our brains in this dead end? What if we change our perspective and transform the talent show into an entirely different format?"
"A different format? What does that mean? Are you suggesting we turn the talent show into a quiz show? Doesn't that still fall under the umbrella of a talent show?"
"Chairman, we want to change, too, but..."
It was clear that Lin Chuan's proposal had failed to resonate with the group; troubled expressions remained plastered across everyone's faces.
Yuan Ye swept a sharp gaze across the faces of the room one by one and said coldly, "You are all elites in the planning field. The television station brought you in at a high cost just for you to say the word 'impossible'? If that's the case, what use does the station have for you?"
Hearing this, everyone's expressions changed once more. They lowered their heads, not daring to utter a word.
Ever since the television station utilized *If You Are the One* to secure massive sponsorship funds and skyrocketing viewership, every department had undergone expansion. In various fields, they had aggressively recruited and poached quite a few industry elites.
Every single one of these elites enjoyed generous welfare and high salaries. If they were to truly lose this job, it wouldn't be entirely impossible to find a better one, but it would be exceptionally difficult.
Therefore, upon hearing Yuan Ye's words, they were all thoroughly frightened.
"Actually, I have an idea. I'm not sure if it's feasible, but why don't we discuss it together?" Lin Chuan said with a light chuckle, unhurried and steady.
Hearing this, the crowd didn't show much interest, and very few even bothered to respond.
And it was hardly surprising. Lin Chuan's identity was that of the station chairman; his secondary identity was that of a star. The fact that he could sing well and write well did not mean he was capable of devising superior planning proposals.
Did they really think planning a show was as simple as flapping one's upper and lower lips together? And innovation, of all things—did they think that was so easy?
When it came to children's programs, many industry elites had wrung their brains dry without being able to conceive of novel themes. Aside from talent shows, it was either talent shows, or else quiz shows and mobile cartoon caravans.
Aside from those, what else could there be? What else was there left to innovate?
"I believe the reason children's programs have stagnated is simply because our approach to innovation has been far too conservative... What if we move indoors to the outdoors and create a children's reality show? Allowing children to experience life while having fun—wouldn't that be a form of innovation?" Lin Chuan slowly stated.
As soon as these words landed, everyone involuntarily and abruptly raised their heads. Even Yuan Ye stared at Lin Chuan with a sharp glint in his eyes and said, "Xiaochuan, do you have any more specific ideas? Share them with us."
"Heh, to grab eyeballs, we could invite some celebrity fathers to bring their children along to participate in the show..."
And so, Lin Chuan laid out the general concept of that wildly popular variety show from his world, *Where Are We Going, Dad?*.
Upon hearing the pitch, everyone collectively drew in a sharp breath of air.
*This celebrity chairman is truly extraordinary.*
