“Although we've shaken off the watcher and found a house to search for supplies, where exactly are we?” Shen Yixue looked around, somewhat perplexed.

“We should be northeast of the clock tower. If we keep going, we'll reach the commercial street and the park,” Lu Yi shared the information he had.

“Wow, that's impressive! You actually remember the map. I can't even tell east from west once I step outside. Honestly, I'm really lucky to have met you—otherwise, I wouldn't even know where I am,” Shen Yixue showed her admiration for Lu Yi.

Lu Yi glanced at the girl’s light attire. “I think you’re pretty impressive too, daring to dress like this in the trial world.”

Shen Yixue giggled, striking a somewhat seductive pose. “Beauty is a lifelong pursuit, and it can bring good luck too. That’s why I ran into you.”

Lu Yi wanted to roll his eyes. According to Xu Anxuan’s experience, those who awaken their innate abilities are always capable of facing crises independently, possessing courage and resilience.

Such people wouldn’t easily rely on others. Shen Yixue’s words were likely just banter to raise her favorability a bit, nothing more.

With that judgment, Lu Yi no longer bothered about Shen Yixue’s remarks. After all, this was just playing along.

He smiled, “Meeting Miss Shen during this task is my fortune as well.”

Shen Yixue smiled at Lu Yi’s words. Seeing this, Lu Yi grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward the nearest room. “Since that’s the case, let’s open the boxes together. We can look out for each other.”

“Huh?” Shen Yixue looked shocked; clearly, she hadn’t considered this.

She quickly pushed at Lu Yi’s hand. “I don’t think that’s necessary. If we each search a separate house, we’d gather more. If a watcher comes, we can call out and respond.”

Shen Yixue withdrew her hand and nodded at Lu Yi, signaling she was listening.

“Because he missed a crucial difference.

In games like this, characters chased by watchers are usually in third-person view—they can see what’s ahead and keep track of the watcher’s movements behind without hindering their escape.

But now we’re physically in the game. We can only see what’s in front of us; looking back to monitor the watcher would definitely make us vulnerable.”

Lu Yi spoke seriously.

Shen Yixue was a bit confused, clearly unfamiliar with this type of game, but she acknowledged Lu Yi’s explanation. “Then why didn’t you mention it?”

“Because I’d only be raising problems without offering solutions, which would just create unnecessary trouble,” Lu Yi replied calmly.

Shen Yixue thought it over and nodded, accepting his reasoning.

That’s what he said, but Lu Yi had another consideration. The street was wide, yet the girl had managed to bump into him. Who knew what she was planning? Rather than risk having someone unpredictable nearby, it was better to show his own value.

If she agreed to cooperate, she’d remain within his field of vision, making any mischief harder. If she refused, he could still glean information from her words.

Shen Yixue frowned. “Is this precaution really necessary?”

Lu Yi chuckled and nodded. “Very necessary. Did you feel that sense of dread while running?”

Shen Yixue froze at his words, recalling her earlier experience. She’d only felt that sense of dread when the watcher first opened its eyes; afterward, it was gone.

“Exactly, you noticed it too. The difficulty of this task hasn’t decreased. In fact, because we lack a stable sense of danger and the third-person perspective, we’re at risk of being attacked without realizing it,” Lu Yi smiled, waiting for her response.

“Wow, Lu Yi is amazing! He immediately spotted one of the game’s challenges,” someone commented in Lu Yi’s live stream.

“It’s a good point, but it’s just part of the game. I think we should observe a bit longer. Let’s check out other rooms first.”

As some left, others entered Lu Yi’s stream.

Handsome, you’re naughty: “Hehe, I was just in the girl’s stream and saw this interesting guy. Everyone guessed the girl had ulterior motives and that she’d try something. If I were her, I’d pull some tricks on the streamer—he’d probably cry for ages.”

Black Phosphorus sent a smiley: “Protection.”

Black Phosphorus: “Husky? Impressive, threw away all your wolfish attitude.”

I’m a Husky sent two dog-head emojis: “So what are you?”

Black Phosphorus: “Guess!” Followed by a cute smiley.

While the chat room buzzed, Shen Yixue nodded at Lu Yi, “Alright.”

The two soon reached the nearest house. The door was wide open. Lu Yi and Shen Yixue exchanged glances and nodded.

Lu Yi entered first, while Shen Yixue stood outside, watching the street alertly.

“Clear,” Lu Yi called. Shen Yixue took a final look at the street and quickly entered. Each approached a box emitting a faint glow, positioning themselves so they could see each other and the doors nearby.

Lu Yi slowly opened the box and reached inside. He felt tiny particles brushing against his hand, gradually gathering and solidifying into an object.

He pulled it out—a talisman.

“Sealing Talisman (Inferior): Can seal an opening no wider than 1.5 meters, preventing the watcher from passing through for a short time.”

Not bad, Lu Yi nodded, attaching the talisman to a special clip on his belt.

Finished, he looked at Shen Yixue, who still hadn’t withdrawn her hand.

A few seconds later, Shen Yixue finally smiled. She pulled out her item—a vial.

“Internal Balance Energy Potion: Relieves muscle fatigue, regulates internal equilibrium, and rapidly restores energy,” Shen Yixue read the item description.

“That’s excellent! With this, you can stay active for a long time,” Lu Yi praised sincerely.

“Excellent?” Shen Yixue shook the bottle and tossed it to Lu Yi. “Fine, you can have it.”

“So generous?” Lu Yi was surprised.

“Humph, what’s so good about it?” Shen Yixue wrinkled her nose. “It just means we might be chased by the watcher for a long time, doesn’t it?”

The two quickly searched the house, both finding different items.

Lu Yi collected several talismans and tools, while Shen Yixue’s most prized find was an extremely rare substitute paper doll. When used, it creates a lifelike decoy that mimics the user’s movements and renders the user invisible.

“Where should we go next?” Shen Yixue asked as they exited the house.

“We’ll follow this road to the park,” Lu Yi said, pointing ahead. But as soon as he spoke, he froze.
