Volume Two, The Devil's Game Chapter Eighteen, Setting Another Trap for the Warden
The guardian let out a roar, seized his long blade, and, channeling its force, sliced through a streetlamp in one stroke before hauling himself back to his feet.
Lu Yi spread his hands. “Trying to kill me? Come on. I’m right here. I’ll give you ten seconds.”
The guardian, ready to lunge, suddenly went rigid. He glanced carefully to the left, then to the right, his whole manner turning wary.
“Hey, hey, hey, what are you looking at? Come over here. I’m right here.” Lu Yi clapped his hands and let out a whistle at the guardian.
Seeing Lu Yi behave like this, the guardian instead took a guarded step backward.
At once, the live chat exploded again.
“A Fish: He’s been intimidated! Streamer 666, you actually scared the guardian.”
“A Warmhearted Man: Honestly, after watching Devil Game for so long, this is the most cowardly, most aggrieved guardian I’ve ever seen.”
“Black Phosphor Sauce: Haha, one moment he was bristling with rage, ready to charge with his blade, and the next, one sentence from the streamer and he folds.”
Lu Yi tapped the back of his right hand against his left palm, looking every bit like a disappointed teacher. “You’re standing there staring at me and still don’t dare come over, yet you keep shouting that you want to kill me. Pathetic. A disgrace.”
The guardian lowered his body slightly, staring fixedly at Lu Yi.
“Tch, waiting for your ability to cool down? Do I look that stupid? Ten seconds are up. I’m done playing with you.” With that, Lu Yi ran to the right.
“Heh. You dared to enrage me and still want to run?” White smoke suddenly billowed from the guardian’s body, and he sprang after Lu Yi. At that moment, it was as though some acceleration device had been installed inside him; compared to before, his speed was more than a little faster.
“Sweetheart Yiyi: Run, streamer! The guardian has used a new skill, and he’s so fast!”
“Sweetheart Yueyue: Exactly. Streamer, the rest of us have been watching all along. Since you don’t have any trap that can stop him, stop showing off and run!”
The audience’s warning comments instantly scrolled through the earphones, but Lu Yi not only failed to speed up, he even turned his head and made faces at the guardian.
The guardian paid him no mind, but Lu Yi suddenly whistled. The guardian first froze, then immediately understood: Lu Yi had been treating him like a dog.
“You’re courting death!” the guardian bellowed in fury. But the words had barely left his mouth when the ground beneath his feet suddenly gave way, and his entire body plunged straight into a pit.

Lu Yi stopped, shook his head, and said, “I told you not to chase me, but you wouldn’t believe it. You even said it was just a cheap trick.”
The live chat erupted again at the sight.
“Camel Gold: Shut down the guardian, and all he has left is a horizontal charge. Then lure him over the pit. Brilliant. Pure brilliance.”
“A Fish: That’s exactly it. Streamer, you’re so devious. No wonder you were so confident.”
“Black Phosphor Sauce: What’s going on? I don’t remember the streamer digging a pit there.”
“Sweetheart Yiyi: I didn’t see the streamer dig any pit or conceal any trap either.”
“Sickly Sweet Fairy: Could someone else have dug it earlier, and the streamer discovered it while setting his own trap?”
“I Am a Husky: No, look carefully. There isn’t the slightest sign of disturbance there. The spot looks exactly like the surrounding concrete. A trap that perfect could never have been made by someone else.”
“Sweetheart Yueyue: Wow, really. How did the streamer do it?”
Hearing the flood of comments, a profound, inscrutable smile appeared on Lu Yi’s face. In truth, the reason was simple enough: when he arrived, he had noticed that very spot.
Under the gaze of his demon eye, the concrete there was riddled with cracks. After a few looks, he confirmed that the ground beneath was hollow, and that the surface layer of concrete would not hold for long. So after breaking the guardian’s skill, Lu Yi had come up with another plan.
“Sweetheart Yiyi: The streamer is smiling. He’s not explaining anything, just acting all mysterious. Do you viewers still not get what he means?”
“Black Phosphor Sauce: Streamer, hurry up and tell us. Don’t keep us hanging.”
“I Am a Husky gave streamer Lu Yi 200 pairs of skate shoes.”
“Black Phosphor Sauce gave streamer Lu Yi 6 wishing bottles.”
“A Lone Wolf in the Valley of Toxic Miasma gave streamer Lu Yi 3 one-punch launchers.”
“Black Phosphor Sauce: Husky, Husky, did one of your kind show up?”
“I Am a Husky: Can’t tell from the avatar. Dog head, dog head.”
Lu Yi’s face darkened. It was not that he was begging for gifts; it truly could not be explained. If he said it aloud, wouldn’t that ruin the whole air of mystery?
“The guardian’s skill is about ready again. I need to be careful now,” Lu Yi said softly to the stream first, then looked toward the pit. He raised his right hand, revealing a paper figure pinched between his fingers.
“Come out. That little fall won’t kill you.”
His words fell, but the guardian gave no response.
Lu Yi frowned. Then a flash of inspiration struck him. Slowly crouching down, he pressed his face to the ground and listened closely. A faint curve tugged at the corner of his mouth.
“I Am a Husky: I saw the streamer smile. I suddenly feel a little sorry for the guardian.”
“Black Phosphor Sauce: Woof, then don’t watch, okay? Dog head.”
“I Am a Husky: But I like watching the guardian get embarrassed. Hilarious.”
“Ink-Taming Minister: Judging by the streamer’s expression, the guardian is probably planning to dig his way under the ground. Husky, how skilled are you in that area?”
“I Am a Husky: Naturally, I’m absolutely top-notch. Not.”
“I say, you iron lump, are you planning to huddle in that pit and be a turtle? Do you need me to find you some earthworms?” Lu Yi stood up and shouted into the pit, but the guardian naturally gave no answer.
Lu Yi shrugged. “This guardian not only has a shell of iron on his body, but now he’s eaten the weight and made up his mind to squat at the bottom of the pit like a shrinking turtle.” He shook his head as he spoke. “I’m leaving. Boring.”
After saying that, he took a few steps to the left and then broke into a mad sprint. At the same time, he shook the paper figure in his hand.
Streaks of golden light converged onto the paper figure. Very quickly, it leaped from Lu Yi’s fingertips, transforming into a person the same size and identical in appearance to Lu Yi, who continued running forward. Meanwhile, Lu Yi instantly entered a state of invisibility, then made a sharp turn and ran in the opposite direction.
After Lu Yi had run a few steps, a blade glow split the ground open. Then a black shadow sprang directly from beneath the earth and hurled itself at the paper-man version of Lu Yi at top speed.
“Despicable brat, did you think I didn’t know you’d laid many traps on the ground? Did you think I’d be so foolish as to force my way through? Now die!”
The guardian whooshed down from above, but suddenly he caught sight of several glinting fine threads. His expression changed at once. Yet with such a massive body, how could he change direction on a dime? And so the guardian, threads and all, plunged downward.
When he saw Lu Yi right before him, his expression eased somewhat. No matter what, landing the hit was enough. But when he swung his blade down, the Lu Yi before him instantly turned into fragments of paper scattering in all directions. At the same time, driven by the fine threads, all manner of furniture rained down from above and smashed into the guardian.
